Systematic Inventory of the Ichtyofauna of the Lomami River and Method of Sampling at the Londeke Site

The purpose of this study was to investigate  the ichthyological fauna of the Lomami River in its part located in Londeke and to make an inventory of the fishing methods used by this population. Thus, the following methods were used: pre-survey, sampling, the survey itself. Results obtained showed that fishermen use 4 fishing gears (hooks, traps, nets and mosquito nets) and catched 20 species of fish (Heterotis niloticus, Parachanna obscura, Mormyrops zanclirostris, Tilapia guineensis, Barbus campacanthus, Xenocharax spirulus, Pareutropius debauwi, Hemichromis fasciatus, Clarias gariepinus, Distichodus antonii, Malapterurus diminnensis, Heterobronchus longifilis, Hemistichodus vaillanti, Ctenopoma kingslayae, Chrysischtys sp, Ctenopoma nigropannosum, Channallabes apus, Hepsetus odoe, Xenomystus nigri, Nannaethiops unitaeniatus) belonging to 12 families (Distichodontidae, Channidae, Osteoglossidae, Cichlidae, Schilbeidae, Mormyridae, Cyprinidae, Clariidae, Malapterudae, Notopteridae, Anabantidae, Hepsetidae), 19 orders (Heterotis, Parachanna, Mormyrops, Tilapia, Barbus, Xenocharax, Pareutropius, Hemichromis, Clarias, Malapterurus, Distichodus, Heterobronchus, Hemistichodus, Ctenopoma, Chrysischytys, Channallabes, Hepsetus, Xenomystus, Nannaethiops). The most captured species are: Heterotis niloticus, Heterobronchus longifilis, Parachanna obscura, Nannaethiops unitaeniatus. Télécharger l'article
